High speed chase lands man with San Diego DUI

An El Cajon police officer was returning from San Diego County Jail when he spotted a vehicle driving allegedly erratically on northbound state Route 163 near Interstate 8 around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, El Cajon police Lt. Ron Smithson said. He said the driver, Randy Lile of Poway, allegedly took off at around 80 miles per hour when the officer attempted to pull him over.

Lile allegedly drove to Pomerado Road and Colony Drive in Poway, where he was arrested after a spike strip disabled his vehicle. No one was hurt in the chase.

Lile was booked in county jail on suspicion of drunken driving and allegedly evading a police officer.
