Friday the 13th, tonight, May 13th, 2011, from 7:00 PM and 2:30 AM, San Diego Sheriff’s Department is having a Poway DUI checkpoint at 16700 Espola Rd., Poway.
The drunk driving checkpoint will support the salaries of 15 DUI cops.
The purpose of the DUI checkpoint is to generate review and allegedly attempt to remove impaired & unsafe drivers from Poway’s backroads at the far northeastern corner of this city in the country where there are no bars or restaurants.
Why would the public instead prefer those 15 DUI cops to patrol the rest of the city, including Poway Road which is home to how many bars and restaurants??
One thing for sure – it’s an easy way to make a night’s wages, to make 1 or 2 or maybe a few DUI arrests which will later likely result in overtime pay as the folks who live in that neighborhood have money to spend on lawyers who will or should fight these ridiculous DUI roadblocks based on them being unconstitutional and/or lacking sufficient evidence to support a drunk driving convictin.
What a waste of money, San Diego DUI criminal defense attorneys believe.
