With taxpayer money to burn, San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Encinitas station sponsored a fairly unsuccesful Memorial Day long weekend DUI Checkpoint Sunday, resulting in only 2 drunk driving arrests, say criminal defense attorneys in San Diego.

San Diego Deputies getting paid big bucks to work at Encinitas Sheriff’s Station spent more time eating donuts and drinking coffee than arresting DUI drivers. There were just a couple. Their Sunday, May 27, 2012 8:50 p.m. to Monday, May 28, 2012 1:45 a.m. San Diego DUI Checkpoint around 500 North Highway 101 in Solana Beach, posted this mild activity. This relatively law-abiding area may have been better served by SAN DIEGO DUI roving patrols, suggest lawyers with 29 years of experience.
