San Diego DUI and drunk driving arrests are up this San Diego Christmas holiday weekend, local lawyers report.
In a CHP report released today to San Diego DUI attorneys, 2 people died and 56 were arrested for a San Diego DUI between Friday evening and early Monday, in contradistinction to 1 fatality and 33 drunk driving arrests a year earlier, said CHP officer Jesse Udovich.
In California, traffic deaths also doubled, from 4 to 8 and DUI arrests were up significantly as well, going from 658 in 2010 to 889 this year.
California and DUI arrests were made by CHP officers, while the traffic-related deaths represent incidents reported by all law enforcement agencies.
Other police have yet to report their San Diego county drunk driving arrests.
