Sheriff’s Department of San Diego County is coming at drinkers & drivers hard this Labor Day Weekend.
San Diego Sheriff’s Department said yesterday beginning tonight, it will continue its “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” all holiday weekend.
San Diego DUI cops, California Highway Patrol & fourteen San Diego area law enforcement agencies beef up with extra patrols and DUI checkpoints during Labor Day.
Friday, August 31 – 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Encinitas, Santee and Poway, California
Saturday, September 1 – 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Imperial Beach
Saturday, September 2 – 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Santee (AVOID)
U.S. crackdown began August 17, continues through Sept. 3. As of Aug. 26, and already picked up 417 people for DUI.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety claims Labor Day weekend is the second most deadly day of the year on our roadways. The sheriff’s department said a report released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office in July found 242 people were killed in car crashes in the county last year. Nearly 1/2 of those killed or 45 percent were under the influence of alcohol.
Driving impaired is simply not worth the risk.
