Location of San Diego DUI Incident: W. Main Street and S. Travelodge, El Cajon
SYNOPSIS:
At 0057 hours, the crew of the San Diego DUI sheriff’s helicopter ASTREA 3 helicopter observed a high-speed sedan in the area of W.
Main Street and S. Travelodge in El Cajon. ASTREA 3 continued to observe the vehicle as it ran through a red light at an
intersection and through several stop signs. ASTREA 3 directed El Cajon Police to intercept the vehicle as the driver
continued through residential areas at high speed and over speed bumps causing showers of sparks.
After several minutes, the vehicle pulled over near the intersection of Jimzel Road and Primrose Drive in La Mesa.
El Cajon Police officers were directed to the stopped vehicle where they contacted the 18-year-old driver and 3
passengers. The driver was arrested for San Diego DUI. Two of the passengers, ages 19 and 18, were cited and released for
possession of alcohol, under 21 years of age. The other passenger, a juvenile, was taken into custody for the same
charge and released to parents.
A video of the San Diego DUI incident which was taken from the sheriff’s helicopter was turned over to El Cajon Police as evidence.
