This San Diego area DUI / drunk driving copwas named Coronado’s Outstanding DUI Officer of the Year for having made 57 San Diego county DUI / drunken-driving arrests during 2007.
This San Diego county DUI officer previously attracted media attention for a case involving San Diego DUI drunk driving Sept. 3, 2006, when he shot and wounded former Chargers linebacker star Steve Foley after a San Diego DUI confrontation near Foley’s Poway home.
Foley pleaded to a misdemeanor San Diego DUI / drunk driving charge and was placed on five years probation. He was released from the Chargers in February 2007 and has filed a lawsuit against the city of Coronado and Mansker, contending he was unjustly shot.
Upon review, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis concluded in December the shooting was justified because Mansker acted in lawful self-defense. San Diego DUI lawyers question it.
